There’s no better way to celebrate Canada Day week than this announcement. Windsor ComiCon is bringing Canadian artist and writer, Richard Comely to this year’s show.
Best known as the creator of Captain Canuck in 1975, Comely has written and illustrated over a dozen children’s books plus hundreds of greeting cards while working on advertising pieces, newspapers and magazines for over 40 years.
During his efforts, he worked as a publisher and editor for the weekly Westwind news in 1976 where he created and produced two syndicated newspaper comic strip features Trumpet and Wabbits. The weekly children’s feature Trumpet was carried in over 65 newspapers in four countries. He also produced the Captain Canuck comic strip in 1995 and 1996 while Captain Fresh Pac, Fan Guys and Gemini Force were publishing and promotional projects created by Comely.
Finally, Comely was inducted into the Joe Shuster Canadian Comic Book Creators Hall of Fame in 2010. He is currently working with publisher Chapterhouse Comics on exciting new ventures for Captain Canuck and other titles. He has more recently worked in collaboration with the Royal Canadian Mint toward releasing a Captain Canuck fine silver coin exclusive which personifies the spirit of Canadians by embodying self-‐sacrifice, determination and integrity.
Windsor ComiCon is an all-‐ages event, featuring popular genres such as comics, sci‐fi, horror, gaming, and anime / cosplay. The two-day event will take place inside The Colosseum at Caesars Windsor from September 29 to 30, 2018. For more information, visit: www.windsorcomicon.com.
