The Windsor International Film Festival (WIFF) announced submission deadlines for WIFF ‘Local’ 2017, a program that promotes and fosters local films and filmmakers.
Now in its eighth year, WIFF ‘Local’ 2017 celebrates local filmmaking talent by encouraging local short and feature film submissions for programming consideration. The submission deadline is Tuesday, September 5th, but early submission is recommended.
Through its exhibition, education, and community development programs, WIFF builds audiences for Canadian content and talent, provides training opportunities for emerging filmmakers, and promotes the creative economy of Windsor and Southwestern Ontario.
“WIFF values the importance of showcasing local filmmakers who are interested in telling our own stories,” says WIFF Executive Director, Vincent Georgie.
Local filmmakers who have premiered films at WIFF since 2010 include: Ken Amlin, Min Bae, Ryan Debergh, Sandra Feldman, Pat Jeflyn , Kim Kristy, Jayme LaForest, Francesco Loschiavo, Kyle Mosonyi , Kim Nelson, Tim Swaddling, Dan Slater, and Daniel Yaworsky.
Films are selected on the basis of quality and originality, and on their ability to contribute significantly to the overall success of WIFF 2017.
WIFF 2017 runs from Monday, October 30th to Sunday, November 5th, and is presented by the Windsor Family Credit Union (WFCU).
