I Love the 90’s, 2023 edition, hit the Caesar’s Windsor Colosseum stage Thursday March 2 and it was a banging affair that had the Windsor crowd on their feet all night. It was the latest edition of the show that began in 2016 and made a few previous stops in Windsor at the now defunct Windsor Bluesfest.
The Windsor edition of the revolving line-up featured Rob Base, All-4-One, Sugarhill Gang, Young MC and headliner Vanilla Ice. The sound quality was top-notch, ensuring that every song sounded just as good as it did in the 90’s. The artists themselves were in top form, with each one delivering a memorable and exciting performance.
The show began with British born Young MC cranking up the crowd, many of them up on their feet dancing like they were back at the clubs they surely frequented about 30 years ago. Bust a Move was the call to get up and groove!
Sugarhill Gang took the stage next. Wonder Mike, Master Gee and Hen Dogg turned the heat up a notch and Hen Dogg brought some style to the show with his bright fuscia Panama hat and shades and his walking stick with gold skull top. Of course, they performed their rap classic Rapper’s Delight, which for many, formed the foundation of 80s and 90s rap.
All-4-One then took the stage and brought a wave of nostalgia with their soulful harmonies on “I Swear” and “So Much in Love.” They were All-3-One this night with Alfred Nevarez not present for some reason but they still sounded good.
Last up before the main act was Rob Base, one half of the duo with DJ E-Z Rock who is best known for the hit It Takes Two.
Finally, the headliner, Vanilla Ice, took the stage and delivered a powerful set that had fans jumping and singing along to his hits such as “Ice Ice Baby” and “Play That Funky Music.” One of his most popular songs is Ninja Rap and who better to perform on stage with him than Michelangelo of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. No Vanilla Ice show would be complete without him bringing a bevy of mostly female fans on stage to dance with him. Fans expect things at a Vanilla Ice show and he always delivers with a big smile on his face.
