Back home for a special Bluesfest Windsor opening night kick off, The Tea Party rocked thousands of fans who were rubbing shoulder-to-shoulder at Riverfront Festival Plaza Thursday night to catch a glimpse of their YQG heroes. The band returned to their home turf to deliver a taste of selected hits, as well as a very cool 20th anniversary nod to their widely successful Transmission album.
And if you didn’t guess it by now, YQG is 100% Tea Party country.
Songs like Heaven Coming Down and Temptation roared through the park and all along Riverside Drive as the band took control of the festival main stage. The sound was very strong and clear, proving the electronic hard rockers have aged well and even the tracks from the two-decade old Transmission album sounded just as fresh as they did 20 years ago.
The performance, although proudly Windsor, was also part of the band’s 20 Years of Transmission Tour and the kick off to their Summer 2017 Tour, which will see the band in Sault Ste Marie, Sherbrooke, Barrie and London next week before heading out to France for the Rock N’ Rhum Festival in Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon in August.
Opening night also featured The Dead River Kings, Autumn Kings and The Standstills. Bluesfest Windsor continues tonight (July 14) with The Wild Rides, Blutonium, Bobby Murray Band, Carolyn Wonderland and headliners The Fabulous Thunderbirds and blues rocker Kenny Wayne Shepherd. Local tribute band Greatest Hits Live is featured on the second stage all night.
Remaining tickets range from $20-35 per night or $80 for a three-day pass. Tickets can be purchased online on the Bluesfest website.
