In a world where music has the power to ignite souls and inspire generations, Amanda Movio emerges as a force to be reckoned with. With a voice that commands attention and lyrics that pierce the heart, this London-based singer-songwriter is on a mission to leave an indelible mark on the music scene. From humble beginnings in talent shows and busking on the streets, Movio has evolved into a rising star, captivating audiences with her soulful melodies and thought-provoking narratives.
“I am a passionate person in music and in life,” Movio declares, her eyes sparkling with an infectious enthusiasm. “Singing has always been a form of play and peace for me, and over the years, I’ve found my sound, my voice, and my way. I’ve been in love with voice and sound since the beginning of my story.”
Movio’s journey into the world of music is a testament to her unwavering dedication and relentless pursuit of her craft. From the exhilaration of stepping on stage with her first band to the viral success of her song “BRINE,” each experience has fueled her passion and propelled her forward. “There are so many memorable moments,” she reflects. “Playing my first solo gig on Vancouver Island, shooting impromptu music videos with Jeff, singing the National Anthem for the City Council, and being accepted into CMI’s Artist Accelerator Program – I found it so valuable and continue to push my intention with some things I learned in the workshop.”
As a woman navigating the music industry, Movio fearlessly embraces her identity and refuses to be defined by gender stereotypes. “I’ve really never had the thought that I have to work harder than men,” she asserts. “Creative, healthy, and well-spoken women are inspiring women, and we get the job done. We walk the walk, and that moves people.”
Movio’s distinctive vocal style is a testament to her unwavering commitment to her craft. When asked about the secret behind her unique sound, she credits it to the countless hours spent nurturing her talent. “I think it’s just been spending time with it and falling in love with the play and feeling,” she explains. “I sing, and have been singing, every day, and because I sing every day, I’ve gotten pretty good over time. I plan to continue pushing my boundaries and believing in the play.”
Collaboration lies at the heart of Movio’s creative process. She surrounds herself with a talented production team, including audio engineer Smoothie from Smooth Music Studios, and collaborates with fellow artists King Cruff, Jaghuligin and Solo YT from The Coalition. “The Coalition is really just a creative family,” she shares. “We’re all supportive and loving one another, with everyone creating in their own way. We connect through love, music, art, and life, and we seriously just inspire one another reciprocally.”
For Movio, investing in her music career is non-negotiable. “If you’re serious about music, you’ll use your money in two ways: to survive and to further your career,” she states. “Whether you are spending it on studio time, lessons, software, networking events, instruments, plugins, travel, or promotion, investing your time and using it to refine your talents is what separates someone who dreams from someone who lives.”
As Movio continues to captivate audiences with her poetic and lyrical songs, she remains grounded in her belief in the power of play and intuition. “My songs write themselves,” she reveals. “I truly feel like Amanda steps down and out, and this intuition and natural way steps in when I pick up my guitar and start singing. No thought, no force, just complete submission and play.”
With an EP titled “The Chasm” set to release in the fall of 2024, Movio is poised to take the music world by storm. The five-track collection promises to showcase her growth as an artist and deliver timeless melodies that resonate with listeners. “The songs that have been written are seriously some of the most classic and timeless that I have ever had the privilege of writing,” she beams. “There’s so much potential in the story and intention of the EP, and I am so excited to share it with everyone.”
Beyond her musical endeavors, Movio recognizes the importance of networking and engaging with the music community. “If you say you’re a musician but you aren’t in the music scene, then what are you?” She questions. “Go to shows and networking events, become a part of the community, support others, and collaborate with others. That’s where so much of the magic lives!”
Social media has also played a significant role in Movio’s career, serving as a platform for free marketing and promotion. “You never know what video will be seen by somebody who knows somebody that could completely change your life,” she emphasizes. “I love making videos and sharing this journey online. In a few years, when I’m looking back at my progress, it’ll be a log I can reflect on, and hopefully, my fans and followers will be inspired in their own lives to live a more intentional life.”
When asked about her definition of success, Movio’s response is both profound and inspiring. “I’m living in it right now,” she declares. “I’m doing what I love and growing in that space. A big part of my success inside and out has been believing in the possibility of something that has always lived in me. I know now I just need to spend time in it and share what’s come from spending that time.”
As Amanda Movio continues to blaze her trail in the music industry, her unwavering belief in herself and her craft serves as a beacon of inspiration for aspiring artists. With a voice that demands to be heard and a spirit that refuses to be tamed, Movio is a force to be reckoned with – a rising star destined to leave an indelible mark on the world of music. In her own words, “Be curious and play. Share with others. Know that it is possible and lead with full faith. Be fearless and beautiful, and be okay with putting your foot down when you feel you need to. Trust yourself. Everything stems from your belief in yourself and in God.”
