Anvil

Canadian heavy metal legends Anvil will be kicking off the Canadian leg of their 2017 tour in Windsor at The Back Stage on Thursday, April 13 at 9pm. This tour marks the band’s 40th anniversary and the official support for their Anvil Is Anvil album which was released in February 2016 through SPV/Steamhammer.

Anvil Is Anvil is the 16th studio album from the band and was produced by Martin Pfeiffer. It’s also the first Anvil album to feature bassist Chris Robertson. The band is currently on a US tour which began on March 2 in Boston and will run through April 9 in Cleveland, OH.
“We’re sometimes criticized for never changing,” commented Anvil guitarist and vocalist Steve ‘Lips’ Kudlow in a press release, “But why should we change something we’re renowned for? Isn’t it much more important to stay faithful to yourself? To do what you do best? The idea behind our latest album is: we are what we are, and that’s how it’s going to stay!”

In the SPV press release, they say Anvil is Anvil is a self-confident statement. A band philosophy. And what’s more: a life motto. Anvil is Anvil, that’s the title of their latest album. And the name says it all: an unambiguous, uncompromising recording, typical of this band. At the same time it’s fresh, occasionally surprising and generally exciting through and through. A stalwart metal manifesto by a band who stand for authenticity and credibility like few others in this fast-lived business.

Two Windsor bands, Löve Razër and Bad Habit, are supporting the local show. Bad Habit will also be releasing a new single that night.

Tickets are available for $20. www.playerssportsclub.ca
