Rodeo is one of the most historic forms of North American pageantry and competition still practiced today. It features the raw skills, determination, teamwork and danger that was so prevalent in the settling of our Country so many years ago. Today’s rodeo performances of cowboys and cowgirls continue to showcase those skills and talents in an effort to preserve the culture and quality of the North American Cowboy!
After over 20 successful years of hosting the annual Essex County Rodeo, the owners of Sun Parlour Rodeo have decided to retire and hand the reigns over to Trimble Farms Cattle Company in Kingsville.
Working in conjunction with Rawhide Rodeo, this weekend marked their launch of the inaugural Kingsville Pro Rodeo. Rawhide Rodeo has been producing rodeos and rodeo related events for over three decades. It has grown from a small professional rodeo company to one of the largest and most accredited in the World, now producing over 100 rodeo performances a year Internationally. As a company, Rawhide Rodeo delivers the product of rodeo to millions of people each year, giving them a taste of the history and culture from which our Country was built.
This weekend’s event didn’t miss a beat with everything from Bullriding to Barrel Racing to Steer Roping. There was even a mechanical bull in the beer tent, for those willing to give it a go. The rodeo featured top ranked professionals, local enthusiasts, and a few first timers.
There was a huge beer tent featuring live music, a wide variety of food vendors, and a wide selection of swag vendors. With acres of free farm field parking, entrance and exit to the event was smooth and carefree.
With three shows over the weekend, the event was an exciting & unique family entertainment experience. Children had the chance to ride a pony, climb onto real farm equipment, or just plan in a huge sandbox.
There were a few hiccups with an overly exuberant security staff, but I am sure this event will be a highlight of summer fun for years to come !!
