The streets of Windsor’s historic Ford City neighborhood came alive this past weekend as thousands of people gathered for the return of Dropped on Drouillard. The once-quiet streets transformed into a vibrant celebration of the community’s resilience and spirit, showcasing the best of what this iconic neighborhood has to offer. From the roar of classic cars at the Dropped Car Show to the electrifying performances by local bands like Indiana Drones, Johnstonsons, and Psychic Void, the festival was a testament to the unwavering determination of the people who call Ford City home.
Stretching along the 900 and 1000 blocks of Drouillard Road, the festival had something for everyone. Visitors were captivated by the mesmerizing performances of the Velvet Edge Urban Circus and the jaw-dropping skateboarding demonstrations by Skate TF. Local artists, such as Jay Raven, Hunter Powell-Cornell, and Kristina Bradt, showcased their talents through engaging displays and live demonstrations that left a lasting impression on festival-goers. And let’s not forget about the food – with delicious offerings from vendors like Rico Taco, Petrella’s Italian Street Food, and the ever-popular Soda Pop Bros, it was a foodie’s paradise.
The success of Dropped on Drouillard is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the Ford City BIA and the community as a whole. This neighborhood, named after the iconic Ford Motor Company plant that once dominated the area, has seen its fair share of ups and downs over the years. But through it all, the people of Ford City have remained strong, determined to revitalize their community and showcase its potential.
As Dropped on Drouillard continues to grow and evolve, it has become a symbol of pride for the residents of Ford City. It’s more than just a festival – it’s a celebration of a neighborhood that refuses to be defined by its past challenges, and instead chooses to focus on its bright future.
