Event Details

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Rwandan Genocide, and the Forest City Film Festival, together with the Cross Cultural Learner Centre, brings two films from Rwanda that speak to the grit and resilience of people as they work through the reconciliation process. These are powerful stories of recovery of personal histories, sharing one’s story, and looking forward with hope.

THE FACES WE LOST is a documentary about how Rwandans use personal and family photographs to remember and commemorate the loved ones they lost in the 1994 genocide. Directed by Piotr Cieplak.

IMARA is the story of an ambitious and passionate cyclist whose dreams of being a world champion in the sport live on, despite only having one leg left to race with. Directed by Samuel Wanjohi who will join us all the way from Nairobi for our audience Q&A.

Samuel will be accompanied by members of the Rwandan community in our region who are community leaders. This is an evening that you won’t soon forget. Tickets are now available.
