Last night, the legendary rapper and actor Ice Cube graced the stage at Caesars Windsor for the first show of his four-day mini tour of Canada. The sold-out crowd was treated to an unforgettable performance from the hip-hop icon, who delivered a setlist that spanned his storied career.
Opening the night with the explosive “Natural Born Killaz,” Ice Cube had the audience on their feet from the very first note. The energy in the room only grew from there, as he seamlessly transitioned into “Hello” preceded by a tease of “Go to Church.”
Highlights of the night included classic tracks like “Check Yo’ Self,” “Friday,” “You Know How We Do It,” and of course, “Straight Outta Compton,” the iconic N.W.A song that helped establish Ice Cube as a force to be reckoned with in the world of hip-hop.
When Cube first addressed the sold-out crowd of about 5,000, he reassured them that this was the die-hard serious rapper who was there performing for their hard-earned money, not the actor in all those famous movies. He was also joined on stage by WC of Westcoast Connection, completing 2/3 of the version of that trio.
But the performance wasn’t all about nostalgia. Ice Cube also showcased some of his more recent work, including “Ain’t Got No Haters” and “It Was a Good Day.” And of course, he didn’t shy away from the controversial, performing “No Vaseline,” his infamous diss track aimed at former N.W.A. bandmates.
Throughout the show, Ice Cube’s charisma and stage presence were on full display, as he engaged with the crowd and kept the energy high. The crowd was fully immersed in the experience, rapping along to every word and dancing in the aisles.
Overall, Ice Cube’s performance at Caesars Windsor was a testament to his enduring legacy as one of the most influential figures in hip-hop. With his flawless delivery and undeniable stage presence, he proved that he still knows how to bring the heat after all these years.
This show marked the debut of a new giant screen at Caesars, which encompassed most of the stage and gave Cube an incredible boost.
Energetic Windsor DJ triple A Sounds opened the show with a great mix of rap and dance favourites. He’s no stranger to Caesars, having performed at Cosmos and supporting Ludacris at The Colosseum back in August last year.
Downtown Windsor was just BUMPIN’ from all the excitement tonight.
