Audience members were raving over the two-hour show from Irish Country Music Hall of Famer Daniel O’Donnell, who charmed a near full house of mostly older ones at Caesars Windsor on Sunday (June 2, 2019). O’Donnell, who was just inducted into the Hall of Fame a month ago, was also in the 519 for a show in Kitchener on Saturday as part of his latest World Tour.
The Irish singer came to public attention in 1983 he has since become a household name in Ireland and Britain, with his charming voice and charismatic personality. His show at Caesars was passionate and fun.
He also brought along his singing partner of 32 years, Mary Duff, and the two completely spellbound the Windsor crowd. The show opened with a video presentation, showcasing his entire career, but shocked a few when the Irish charmer shared pictures with North American country heroes Loretta Lynn and Garth Brooks.
Some of the show highlights included a little Canadian content with Anne Murray’s Snow Bird and Hank Snow’s Nobody’s Child, as well the emotional and inspirational closing number, How Great Thou Art.
Fans waited for over a year to get O’Donnell back at the Colosseum after his May, 2018 show was postponed because of last year’s UNIFOR Local 444 strike. No one seemed to care when he mentioned it during one of his talkative breaks, they just cheered him on and welcomed him with open arms.
It’s obvious why O’Donnell is a household name in Ireland, the 57-year-old is an entertainer through-and-through.
