World-renowned Irish singer-songwriter Hozier has added a Windsor stop on his 2019 Wasteland, Baby! World Tour. The multi-platinum artist will perform at The Colosseum at Caesars Windsor on August 6, a date that was added to the last few remaining North American dates before heading to Europe for almost three months of extensive touring.
Hozier, also known as Andrew Hozier-Byrne, will promote his sophomore album, Wasteland, Baby! during the extensive trek across the globe that began in March. The long-awaited album was released on March 1 and served as the follow-up to his 2014 self-titled debut. Wasteland, Baby! topped the Billboard 200 in its second week and is a first for the Take Me to Church singer.
Hozier achieved one of the major breakout hits of 2014 with “Take Me To Church”, which initially developed as a viral hit on the likes of YouTube before reaching more than 4 million download sales in the U.S. alone.
Penned and recorded as a demo by him at his parents’ home in County Wicklow in Ireland while he was a struggling musician, it first caught the attention of independent record label Rubyworks which put him together with record producer Rob Kirwan. With Kirwan utilizing the vocals of the original demo, a new version was made and it started to build on YouTube and Reddit, attracting the attention of the A&R community and landing Hozier a record deal.
After its eventual full commercial release, it went on to reach No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the U.S. in late 2014 and spent 23 consecutive weeks leading the Hot Rock Songs chart, the joint longest chart-topping run in history. It has since topped 4 million U.S. download sales.
Tickets for the ALL-AGES SHOW start at $48 Canadian and will go on sale at noon on Friday, April 19 through ticketmaster.ca or the Box Office.
