The Municipality of Leamington, in partnership with The Bank Theatre, will present the final concert of the Music Onthe42 Summer Concert Series on Saturday, August 27, 2022.
Famed East Coast fiddle masters Natalie MacMaster & Donnell Leahy will hit Leamington’s SUNSET® Amphitheatre in Seacliff Park at 8:30 PM with opener Glen MacNeil opening the show at 7:30 PM.
“This area has proven it has a love for East Coast Celtic music,” said John Moran, President of The Bank Theatre and Producer of the series. “Tie that in with the fact that they are the best fiddlers in North America if not the world, along with brilliant step dancing with their young children and you’ve got a show for all ages that leaves everyone talking for days!”
Hearing Natalie MacMaster and Donnell Leahy speak reverentially about the fiddle, which has propelled their dazzling careers since childhood while cementing their status as Canada’s reigning couple of Celtic music, is almost as electrifying as hearing them play it.
Indeed, when MacMaster and Leahy married in 2002 — both were already stars in their own right — they could not have predicted their merger would recast what contemporary musical success looks like. Or that they would produce a large family and ensure their mantelpiece was jammed with JUNO and East Coast Music Awards while creating an inventory of achievements spanning the globe.
Opening the show at 7:30 PM is Glen MacNeil. Glen MacNeil is an acclaimed acoustic singer-songwriter, whose music embodies the spirit of his Cape Breton Celtic roots, flavoured with hints of country and folk.
All are welcome to attend these free, un-ticketed outdoor events. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and set up on the lawn for the show. Refreshments are available at the Kinsmen Kanteen. LTGO on-demand transit hours have been extended to 11:00 PM for each Music Onthe42 Summer Concert.
