Pat-TraversWhile most bluesy hard rock acts of the ‘70s and ‘80s hailed from the United States (the South, to be exact), there were several exceptions to the rule, such as Canadian singer/ guitarist Pat Travers. The rocker is out on the road and will be stopping in at Bluesfest Windsor on Friday, July 13. He spent a little time with YQG Rocks / 519 Magazine looking back on his career and the 40th Anniversary of Live! Go For What You Know.

Born in Toronto on April 12, 1954, Travers first picked up the guitar just prior to entering his teens after witnessing a local performance by the great Jimi Hendrix.

Pat Thrall, Nicko McBrain, Clive Edwards, Tommy Aldridge, Peter “Mars” Cowling, Barry Dunaway, Carmine Appice, Michael Shrieve, are some of the noted musicians who have been members.

The live album Live! Go for What You Know is essential rock listening. Highlights include Heat in the Street, the live Boom Boom (Out Go the Lights), and Snortin’ Whiskey.

Check out Pat, in his own words:
