Pat-TraversWhile most bluesy hard rock acts of the ‘70s and ‘80s hailed from the United States (the South, to be exact), there were several exceptions to the rule, such as Canadian singer/ guitarist Pat Travers. The rocker is out on the road and will be stopping in at Bluesfest Windsor on Friday, July 13. He spent a little time with YQG Rocks / 519 Magazine looking back on his career and the 40th Anniversary of Live! Go For What You Know.

Born in Toronto on April 12, 1954, Travers first picked up the guitar just prior to entering his teens after witnessing a local performance by the great Jimi Hendrix.

Pat Thrall, Nicko McBrain, Clive Edwards, Tommy Aldridge, Peter “Mars” Cowling, Barry Dunaway, Carmine Appice, Michael Shrieve, are some of the noted musicians who have been members.

The live album Live! Go for What You Know is essential rock listening. Highlights include Heat in the Street, the live Boom Boom (Out Go the Lights), and Snortin’ Whiskey.

Check out Pat, in his own words:

Tell me about your current band members.
Rush is another big band you go way back with.
That was an odd tour without the makeup.
Do you remember much from the Lick It Up tour?
You're a big part of Kisstory
You seem to like cruises.
If you can, will you jam with Extreme?
Do you go bluesier at a Blues Festival?
Festivals can be fun to bring family members to.
You're playing Bluesfest Windsor this week.
After all these years do you still love the guitar?
Live! was clearly a defining moment.
Tell me about Boom Boom Out Go The Lights
Did they ever record more than the 8 songs?
It was a groundbreaking album
.Live! Go For What You Know is 40 years old. OMG
