NO-EXIT-cast-photo-l-r-Lizz-Dietrich,-Alex-Monk,-Michael-KPost Productions is going to Hell in its next show. The theatre company is presenting its production of Jean-Paul Sartre’s No Exit starting Friday.

Although it premiered in 1944, it’s never gone out of style, says director Michael O’Reilly.  “One of the things that makes No Exit relevant to audiences today – especially to young adults – is roommates. Much more than when I was young, twenty-somethings have to contend with living at home longer than they want to, or living with roommates – who aren’t always the people you’d actually want to live with. Sometimes even the best of friends can get on each other’s nerves. Now imagine if each roommate was selected to be the perfect antagonist for the others?”

Post Productions has been planning to stage this play for a year and a half.  “I started thinking about No Exit as a potential Post Productions play shortly after we finished performances of The Worst Thing I Ever Did in 2017,” O’Reilly explains.  “I’m a fan of locked room scenarios. From Hitchcock’s Lifeboat to 12 Angry Men to Breakfast Club and Cube, I love them all. Plus, No Exit is a perfect distillation of all the themes we like to explore.  It’s a bitter, funny, truth elixir.”  O’Reilly believes audiences will be surprised by how much No Exit will affect them.  “Look, if you like old Twilight Zone episodes, The Big Lebowski, big questions, and what-ifs, this is the play for you. If you like cold coffee in a can and hanging out later to talk about what just happened on stage, this is the show for you. If you like to see terrific actors do what they do with work that is worthy of them, here you go.”

As an added bonus to unattached theatre patrons, Post Productions is offering a “Hell is Other People” discount on February 14th.  Yes, theatre-goers who purchase a ticket in advance online and attend the Valentine’s Day performance alone will receive a 10% rebate when they arrive at the theatre.

No Exit will be performed at the Shadowbox Theatre (103b – 1501 Howard Ave, Windsor, ON) February 1, 2, 7, 8, 9, 14, 15, 16.  Performances begin at 8:00 PM (doors open 7:30). For tickets and further information see postproductionswindsor.ca.
