The Bluesfest Windsor line-up took a hit this week with the announcement of the cancelation of Prince protégé Sheila E., who said she will not be performing for the Celebration of Prince on July 13.
Less than 2 weeks after the announcement of the Celebration of Prince with Morris Day and The Time, tribute band Purple Reign and Sheila E., she backed out of her agreement and accepted an offer for a different show. The July 13 show still appears on her website.
“While we are disappointed Sheila E. will not be joining us,” said LiUNA! Bluesfest Windsor, President, Rob Petroni in a statement. “I am pleased to announce that Detroit’s award-winning R&B band, Kathleen Murray and The Groove Council, will perform on the Celebration of Prince night with our featured headliner, Morris Day and The Time plus the Purple Reign band.”
Bluesfest is looking for a band to replace the void left by moving Kathleen Murray and The Groove Council to the new time slot. Interested local bands can contact them through their website. http://www.bluesfestwindsor.com/
