Snoop Dogg and his posse rolled into Budweiser Gardens in London on Friday night as part of their Canada wide CALI to CANADA Tour.
The journey began at local clothing retailer N4E1, where London Knight Denver Barkley and Snoop’s manager Kevin Barkey launched the latest Death Row Hockey ware. The event featured limited edition posters, t-shirts, and hoodies decked out in the Knight’s green, white, and yellow team colours and featured an image of Barkey celebrating a recent goal for the 2024 OHL Champions. “When I got the opportunity, I couldn’t really turn it down”, stated Barkley as he autographed memorabilia for fans in attendance.
Canadian Cole Stevenson, aka Merkules, opened the show with a twenty minute set featuring his hit “Bass” from Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater video game. Stevenson is very proud of the fact that he was the first Canadian rapper to be signed by Death Row Records.
West coast rapper and G-Funk style master, David Blake aka DJ Quik, aka Da Quiksta, got the crowd rolling with his expert use of the talkbox. His “QUIK” six song set featured hits “Born and Raised in Compton”, “Tonite”, and the Tony! Toni! Tone! Cover “Let’s Get Down”. Best known for his production efforts with fellow rappers Jay-Z, Ludacris, and Chingy, Quik has evolved into one of the leading artists and celebrity DJs.
Fellow DJ, rapper, and producer Warren Giffin aka Warren G, aka The Regulator was the next posse member to command the stage. With a 12 song set featuring some his classics intertwined with well known covers, Warren was the perfect primer for headliner Snoop Dogg. His masterful spin on Gansta Funk ( G-Funk ) shown thru on “So Fly” and “Regualte”. The former coming from his former trio 415 featuring Nate Dogg and Snoop. The pain of Nate’s early death shown through on G’s rendition of “Nobody Does It Better”.
