Last night’s festive melodies heralded the official start of the Christmas season in Windsor on December 14. Internationally respected vocal quartet The Tenors graced the stage once again for what seems like an annual tradition at Caesars Windsor, with their latest Christmas concert, offering an enchanting evening filled with beloved holiday classics. This group, which has evolved significantly since its inception in 2004 as The Canadian Tenors, now comprises Mark Masri, Clifton Murray, Alberto Urso, and Victor Micallef. Each member brings a unique flavor to the ensemble, enhancing the group’s dynamic and appeal.
The Tenors’ performance at Caesars Windsor was a testament to their artistic growth and commitment to refreshing traditional holiday music. Their setlist, featuring timeless pieces like “Do You Hear What I Hear?”, “Silent Night”, “O Come All Ye Faithful”, “White Christmas”, and “Here Comes Santa Claus”, was delivered with a fresh and contemporary twist. The concert showcased a couple selections from their latest Christmas album, “Christmas with The Tenors”, which includes tracks like “I’ve Got My Love to Keep Me Warm” and other holiday favorites reimagined in a more contemporary and pop-oriented style. This album marks a significant departure from their previous Christmas offerings, introducing a lighter, family-friendly approach that still honors their classical roots.
The concert at Caesars Windsor, part of what’s become a cherished annual tradition, highlighted The Tenors’ ability to balance respect for classic carols with innovative musical interpretations. Their rendition of “Do You Hear What I Hear” stood out as a highlight, exemplifying their skill in creating warm, enveloping harmonies that evoke the quintessential feeling of Christmas. The song was punctuated with a gorgeous local choir that filled the back of the stage with incredible harmony.
