The University Players are presenting a series of performances of Judith Thompson’s Lion In The Streets at the Hatch Studio Theatre from March 3-12, 2017.
The show tells the story of the ghost of Isobel, a nine-year-old Portuguese girl, who wanders the neighbourhoods of Toronto in search of her murderer. As she watches over the living, she shares their darkest moments, and ultimately finds hope and forgiveness. In this powerful and surreal masterpiece by one of Canada’s preeminent and celebrated playwrights, Thompson examines isolation, cruelty and the possibility of a moment of grace and redemption.
Like many of Judith Thompson’s plays, Lion in the Streets is a nightmare, full of heightened surrealistic imagery which derives from the obsessions of her characters
For mature audiences – Some may find the language and subject matter disturbing.
