The Win City Roses took over Villains Beastro in Windsor last Friday for an evil evening of titillating burlesque pleasure. It was an event they billed as Rogue: A Villain – Inspired Burlesque Tribute.
Having never been to a burlesque show, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. I knew there’d be some theatrics, a bunch of comedy, some sexuality and quite a bit of butts and boobies, but I never knew just how much actual fun the show would be.
There’s a big difference between stripping and burlesque dancing. Stripping is all about arousing and nothing else, while burlesque is all about entertaining and teasing – and once you experience the entertainment and teasing side, everything else is just plain boring.
Rogue: A Villain – Inspired Burlesque Tribute was exactly that.
The audience experienced tributes of the likes of Mother Gollum, Ursula, Cruella De Vil, Catwoman, Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn and even Negan from The Walking Dead (Although I don’t remember Negan looking quite so sexy on the television screen).
Host Dolly Dogfight Diamond was great at controlling the audience and keeping them at bay while the lovely ladies got undressed for the audience. She had a great sense of humour, a really strong personality and a giant pair of… high heeled shoes. It’s a shame we didn’t get to see her perform above and beyond her hosting duties – many in the audience would have loved that.
Some of the highlights included Charlotte Chartreuse, who came to the stage in a skin-tight leather outfit and cat ears for a purrrr-fectly awesome Catwoman routine and undressed to cat shaped pasties and a G-string, while Rosalind St. Pixel rocked our world as Negan, complete with Lucille in tow as she disrobed to a starburst pasty set with double layered undies and flesh-toned mesh nylons.
Emberly Sparks was adorable as Ursula and looked stunning in her shell-shaped bra and black nylons – she was also the only one to show off some garters, so big cheers for that. Jack gave us a very sexy Harley Quinn, with t-shirt and shiny booty shorts that came off to reveal an awesome one-piece black teddy-styled garment with plenty of peek-a-boo holes in the front and back. Lucky Rouge played the role of Poison Ivy and bared down to a green fluffy bra and a pair of matching panties that may have creeped up on her a bit. And jaws dropped when Devilyn Von Treat turned around to reveal a lacy pair of tight fitting panties as she removed her bra – I’ll never look at Maleficent the same ever again. Ever!
A modern burlesque isn’t complete without an appearance from a gorgeous Queen, and Ariel Attack didn’t disappoint with two live vocal performances opening and closing the show – Mother Gollum singing Mother Knows Best and crowd favorite Sweet Transvestite. The Sweet Transvestite performance was a treat to watch and could have only been better had we seen some garters and revealing panties. Ariel’s voice was fantastic and carried well despite not being mic’d at all.
As a burlesque virgin, Win City Roses had everything I could have imagined and more – and I certainly got an eyeful that night, but who’s complaining. Much respect to the performers for an awesome night of titillating fun and Boobalishish teasing. Without you, life would be a lot less sexy.
