The Windsor Symphony Orchestra is hosting celebration of our country and our region on Saturday night (Sept. 23) with Ode to Canada as their 2017/18 season opener at the Capitol Theatre in Windsor. The 70th season has been jam-packed with a plethora of musical performances well into March 2018.

The sold-out concert is expected to open with Fallen by Jordan Pal, composed for Canada 150. Excerpts from Because We All Lived Here, a poetry collection that tells the stories of the towns and districts that now make up Windsor, will be read between movements of Brahms’ Variations on a Theme of Joseph Haydn. The celebration concludes as more than 150 chorus members and four outstanding soloists join the WSO for Beethoven’s monumental Symphony no. 9.

This initiative is made possible by the Community Fund for Canada’s 150th, a collaboration between the Windsor-Essex Community Foundation the Government of Canada, and extraordinary leaders from coast to coast to coast.

The 8pm show is being held in the Pentastar Theatre.
