Korda Artistic Productions is gearing up to present the wickedly funny romp Bedroom Farce at The Kordazone Theatre starting Friday, June 2 and running on the weekends until June 17. It’s a famous play by Alan Ayckbourn and is being directed by Nikki Richardson.
Written in 1975, Ayckbourn’s play looks at four relationships between younger and older generations and uses absurdity and farce to shed light on the various difficulties relationships endure during different stages of life. It had a well-documented London production at the Prince of Wales Theatre in 1978.
Trevor and Susannah, whose marriage is on the rocks, inflict their miseries on their nearest and dearest: three couples whose own relationships are tenuous at best. Taking place sequentially in the three beleaguered couples’ bedrooms during one endless Saturday night of co-dependence and dysfunction, beds, tempers, and domestic order are ruffled, leading all the players to a hilariously touching epiphany.
The Korda productions stars Gabriel Dumas as Ernest, Laurie Niefer as Delia, Alex Butler as Trevor, Arielle Opler as Susannah, Matthew Froese as Malcolm, Lyssa Froese-Meloche as Kate, Kyle C. Haight as Nick and Kerri Galloway as Jan. The crew includes producer Robert Godden, stage manager, Misty Habib, Martin Ouellette set construction and Christopher Lawrence-Menard web, program and promos.
Tickets are $15, $12 for seniors and $10 for students. They will be available at the door of the theatre one half hour before each show time or reservations can be made by calling Korda at 519-562-3394.
