ForeignerTheir current tour is called Cold As Ice, but that was the furthest thing from the truth as American rockers Foreigner turned up the heat at Caesars Windsor on Sunday (Mar. 10). The band tore through a set of 12 hit songs from start to finish with absolutely no filler.

Opening with Long, Long Way from Home, the first song guitarist Mick Jones ever worked on for the band with original singer Lou Gramm back in 1976, the band appeared to be excited to be performing for a capacity crowd at The Colosseum. The anthemic song set the tone for an evening of sing-a-long classics.

Sticking with material primarily from 1977 to 1984, the lowest charting single of the night was the immortal signature song Juke Box Hero, so this felt more like a greatest hits tour than most of their tours from the past. Missing in action were usual concert notables like Say You Will, Starrider or Girl On The Moon.

Although Mick Jones is the only remaining member of the band, this felt like a true vintage Foreigner, and dare I say it, almost better than the original line-up would be at this point in time. Vocalist Kelly Hansen is one of the best singers in rock music and has a set of pipes that seems in tune and on key every time he opens his mouth. Along with Jones and Hansen, Foreigner is Thom Gimbel (multi-instruments), Jeff Pilson (bass), Michael Bluestein (keyboards), Bruce Watson (guitar) and Chris Frazier (drums).

Foreigner is one hell of a band – always entertaining, always musically satisfying and always the gracious rockstars. If you can catch the band on the road this year, don’t miss out.
