For the Love of Late Night is a Windsor original show written by the talented Michael J. Krym, who also directed and produced the show. He also played a small role as Gary the stagehand who makes sure the main character stays on top of things.
Jimmy McCrae has been in the spotlight for forty years with his own late night talk show. He has chatted with all sorts of stars and created quite the name for himself on television. Now with the rise of social media and people becoming famous with a click of a button, Jimmy learns from his producers that his late night show is about to be cancelled. He realizes his last show needs to go out with a bang! It has to be something that everyone will remember.
The celebrities that Jimmy interviews are definitely people to remember. His first guest is Patricia Clark, a washed up pop singer who has released a new album. Her outfits are glittery, bold, gold and make a statement. She loves to party and always seems to have a new man in her life. Patricia very much has the trashy persona as Ke$ha and the badly written song lyrics of Rebecca Black.
Next we have Damian Marlow a male hollywood star who is in all of latest blockbuster hits. His charm and good looks always lands him the parts. He is “IT” and has become incredibly successful.
Finally we have Kiki a wildly popular YouTube star. She is a little too connected with her online fans as she posts a new video seven days a week. Her channel focuses on her life, shopping hauls and pretty much everything under the sun. Oh, and she is a vegan in case you were wondering.
Jimmy McCrae played by Eric Branget was the one that liked to stir the pot. With his career slowly going down the toilet he might as well bring others down with him. From prying into their personal lives on live TV and having the guests turn against one another, he is living for every moment.
Michael Krym has written a very comedic and witty script. You could tell he drew lots of inspiration from celebrity interviews and mishaps. The actors had the audience laughing from beginning to end. They all played off of each other very well. Keeping their composure while breaking into chaotic characters.
Krym was clever in his writing style, picking jokes on modern day times and things in the past. All of the actors are seasoned performers and can connect to any role given to them. Krym’s first show “A Bad Man’s World” starred the same group of actors. Bad Man’s World was more of a drama, touching upon realistic issues. Late Night is Saturday Night Live, high energy and filled with comedy. Seeing them play roles that are complete opposites was amazing. They all brought the same quality of performance for both of the shows.
